Supporting Survivors of Assault

Early in her nursing career, Dr. Analena Lunde ’18, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), learned about the lack of medical training and information about sexual violence in her community and began spreading awareness. As a human trafficking navigator and youth specialist at Youthworks, Lunde provides training and case management support to survivors of sex and labor trafficking. She is also the lead sexual assault forensic nurse examiner for Central Dakota Forensic Nurse Examiners and serves on various human trafficking and forensic nurse council boards. “Awareness and education are the most powerful tools we have to not only reach and help survivors but also to prevent this from happening,” Lunde says.
